Connecticut Hospice is licensed as a Short-Term Hospital, Special Hospice. We care for hospice and palliative care patients and provide limited disease directed therapy for seriously ill patients. hospital and provides acute care services within a hospice and palliative care setting. Our short-term specialty care model emphasizes comfort, symptom relief, and supportive medical treatment for individuals with serious or life-limiting illnesses.

Hospice, Palliative, and Acute Care Services

Connecticut Hospice provides hospice and palliative care services, as well as limited acute care services that are appropriate to our specialized setting.

  • Hospice care focuses on symptom management, quality of life, and support for patients who are no longer pursuing curative treatment.
  • Palliative care focuses on symptom management, support with medical decision-making, and improving quality of life and may be provided alongside curative treatments.
  • Acute care services provided by Connecticut Hospice are limited in scope and are focused on symptom stabilization and supportive treatment within the disease directed treatments.

Connecticut Hospice does not operate an Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), trauma services, surgical services, or other high-acuity hospital-based departments. We do not provide ongoing critical care or advanced life-sustaining interventions typically delivered in hospitals with ED or ICU capabilities.

Our nurses and licensed providers maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and are trained to recognize and respond to acute changes in patient condition.
